On September 10th, 1986, Stewart, 17, died in an automobile accident near Montreal. His car ran into a bridge abutment and exploded. His girlfriend and mother of his child, Lucie Diotte, also 17, died with him. The couple left behind an eight-month-old son. Stewart had no licence and was speeding when he crashed.
